Things Not To Say In The Oncologist's Office
"I sleep like the dead": this is an unfortunate expression that I've used for years. I do sleep very well. Always have. "Rebecca needs a lot of sleep," Mum would say. I could sleep for England. But the "dead" reference is not something my doctor wants to hear when he asks whether I'm sleeping. It's a little unnerving apparently. Understandable.

Jealous! Very!
I used to be an amazing sleeper. Now to sleep through the night I have to take a Xanax. I keep on trying to do without, and so I go for a week, and then just have to have a real night's sleep. Erg.
I also have a scrip for Ambien. BAAAAD stuff. It makes me a believer in the Heath Ledger overdose theory.
